2015 Ohio State Open
To be held at Marriott Courtyard, Willoughby, Ohio 44094 - September 12 & 13   ( map )

Prize fund will be approx. $1000. Format is 7 rounds (3-move restriction) starting Saturday morning, (register 9:00-9:30am, begin play approx. 9:30am), and finishing with Rounds 5, 6 & 7 on Sunday. Entry fee is $10.

The Marriott is located east of Cleveland very near where I-271 and I-90 meet. Exit at Ohio Route 91, turn right (North), then turn right at Maplegrove (Bob Evans, Eat N Park, and CVS Drugstore are on this corner), and Marriott is on the left.  For your GPS: Courtyard Cleveland Willoughby, 35103 Maplegrove Rd, Willoughby, OH 44094.  Besides Appleby's next door, there are about a dozen restaurants, grocery store, and 2 drug stores within a couple blocks, plus a food bar within Marriott.

 Congratulations to Alex Moiseyev, who retains the Ohio state title (held since 2003).              
 All players played as one group using 3-move.   Format was round-robin plus 2 Swiss rounds scored by game.        
 It was also noted that this was the 60th anniversary of Louis Cowie's 1st of many Ohio State Titles going back to 1955!      
 $1,490 in prize money was awarded.
 Contributions were received from Joe LoConti ($170, + meeting room expense ($200) + one hotel room + $400 previously placed in Ohio Checkers Assoc. acct.  		            
 Two other donations:  Joe McDaniel ($300), Rich Beckwith ($550).
